The Pickwickians are either drunk or confused, they end up in the random, improbable places and eat and drink themselves silly. Reading this book, you watch Dickens mature as a writer and a man. It might be silly, but his attacks on pretension in politics and society are spot on and savage. Dickens is young, confident, and thrilled by what he can do. You can almost hear him laughing as he writes it.

Mr. Pickwick, Sam, Tupman, Winkle, Snodgrass--all have become great friends. If you have not read it, don't give up after the first chapter or two. Dickens really gets going about a quarter of the way through the book. By the end, you don't want it to stop. This is funny, gently satirical, heart-warming. And this edition is well-worth the $.99 I paid--other digital editions leave things out! Five stars.

Channel catfish are native to fresh water areas, including reservoirs, lakes, streams, ponds, and rivers. They will usually choose a location with good breeding areas, an adequate food supply, and fairly warm temperatures. Channel cats prefer to build nests for spawning in hidden, hollow logs, rock ledges, and undercut banks, so the presence of these features may indicate a good area to look for catfish. They also prefer to stay out of the current, so you should fish for catfish near beaver dams, muskrat burrows, log jams, lake shores, deep pools, dark holes, rock ledges, weedy areas, and similar areas.

So many books on fishing are over complicated or include stories which I really dont care about but the way George puts things in this book are short and to the point. He teaches you about catfish habitats, what rigs to use, what bait to use, and even revipies for when you catch your first catfish. I am excited to give this a go soon and I know it will be easier because of this guide. I wish there was a little paperback I could bring with me as a reference book....

Successful as a young painter in Europe, an adherent of the Realism style, Duveneck excelled in portraiture, won prizes for his Rembrandt-like canvases, and founded schools for painters in Munich and Florence. He and his students, the Duveneck Boys, were the toast of Florence, then the capital of Italy. No one-trick pony, Duveneck adapted his natural abilities to landscapes, etching, sculpture, murals, and to new trends. All along during this late Victorian period he and his works fascinated the artistic world and the intelligentsia of the day. John Singer Sargent referred to him as “the greatest brush” of their generation. Duveneck, the product of Midwestern pioneer parents, received schooling in art fundamentals from Benedictine monks who put him to work like a medieval apprentice as a teen-aged church decorator. After his discovery in Boston at an 1875 exhibition, Duveneck spent most of the next decade and a half in Europe. In 1886, after an on-and-off romance, he married an artist-expatriate, Boston-born Elizabeth Lyman Boott, a textile industry heiress. Her death two years later short-circuited his career, leaving him a wealthy yet wounded man. In time he recovered to produce a memorial effigy to Elizabeth, one of his greatest works. He turned to new styles of painting during summers as Gloucester, Massachusetts, and launched a second teaching career in Cincinnati. In 1915 he won recognition from his international peers for the work of his brush and his unique contribution to American art.

A short book with a powerful message.Deedra lost her son in an accident right here in Memphis. I KNOW Summer Ave....I KNOW Midtown...I can not say i know the loss of a child but i do know the loss of a brother. Two to be exact. And what it does to a mothers heart, a mothers life is unimaginable.But the story is also about herself and her upbringing , how she pulled herself up by her bootstraps to be a single mother. This book is honest, raw, and packed with feeling.

The author writes from the depths of her soul, words that no parent should ever have to. The story of losing her only son so tragically is beyond anything I can imagine. She writes it with such love, anger, and desperation. At the end I felt that she had somehow found a small part of who she use to be before the unspeakable happened. I'm sure Joshua would be very proud of her for writing this book and keeping his memory alive. I would imagine that with each chapter she wrote there was great fear, because putting it into words made it even more real.

If you have ever worked in a restaurant (and everyone should at least once in their lives) you will know her stories are not exaggerations. The history of her family growing up in the apartment over the restaurant and the adventures of all the mothers, fathers, kids, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends gave me a new understanding of this five generation restaurant family! Many of her stories made me laugh out loud! Loved it!

The author reveals the complete picture, the good times as well as the bad, it is a true picture of what faith looks like. This story was told with wit and humor. An easy and very enjoyable read. I laughed and cried with delight as I read this book.

This book is beautifully written and is excellently prepared. I read it in two sittings only because I had to get some sleep. I didn't want to put it down. If you love stories of miracles and inside looks into ministry, you'll love this book. I want a sequel. I know there's more amazing stories of this amazing family.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Very good informative book By Jodie Myers Great book for intermediate and advanced archery development. The book is full of solid advice and information that not only educates the hunter in hunting techniques. The book does not concentrate on the use of bows although this aspect is covered. Primarily it concentrates on making the hunter a better hunter. The author does a great job of explaining the basics of bow hunting. Maybe one of the best books ever, Buy it, and if you buy it read it again and again. I highly recommend for both beginner and advanced archers.

Although there are a few tips on form, there is nothing about equipment, sights, arrows, nothing. I'm very disappointed to say the least. This book was almost $3.00. It is worth less than 5 cents.
