A series of inexplicable murders occur, there are no witnesses and there is no evidence left behind. It almost seems like they are being committed by a ghost. Add that to the fact that people are receiving terrifying calls from a cackling woman that seem to be coming from the landline of homicide detective Anthony Hollownton. This isn't possible because Anthony lives alone and never brings women home with him. Essby has written a wonderfully creepy tale that keeps the reader hooked from start to finish. Her use of strong, well developed characters, crisp dialogue, and just the right amount of supernatural frights make this a great read.
