About the Author Born in Italy, Germana Nijim has lived in Brazil, the Middle East, and the USA. She is a 1963 graduate of Saint Cetherine College in St. Paul, Minnesota. From 1998 to 2000, she served as Director of International Services at the University of Northern Iowa. She lives in South Bend, Indiana, where she does volunteer work and maintains her membership in the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center in Jerusalem. She supports American groups that advocate for justice and independence for Palestinians. her sons, their wives, and her four grandchildren give her the incentive and desire to always return home from her travels.
