About the Author This mother and son team have experienced the healing journey together and have worked collaboratively to tell Trent’s story through their first book, “Shattered No More”. Pam and Trent often speak to large groups about their experiences and have plans for additional books, curriculum materials, and self-help guides in the future. Trent is a 14 -year-old boy who has dedicated his life to helping children and families who have experienced trauma. At the young age of 14, Trent frequently speaks to large crowds about his experience in foster care. His compelling story has been featured in The Wake Weekly, News and Observer, and 919 Magazine on multiple occasions.Trent has appeared on WRAL News and has starred in a promotional video. He also founded the Mercy for America’s Children Kid’s Division in 2012 and mentors many children in the process of being adopted through the foster care system. In addition, Trent serves on the Board of Directors for Mercy for America’s Children as a Child Representative. Trent’s efforts have been recognized by the community through recognition as a World of Children Award Nominee and a two-time Kohls Kids Award Nominee. This humble, young man reminds others frequently that everything he does is to bring awareness to the needs within the foster care system. Trent’s willingness to openly share his story will inspire hope in the hearts of many. Pam is an adoptive mother to two boys who have changed her life in unimaginable ways. After a very complicated adoption process, Pam pursued her passion of forming a non-profit organization that promotes and supports adoption of children in the foster care system. In 2012, Pam and her husband, Mac, founded Mercy for America’s Children. Pam serves as Executive Director for this thriving organization. She has an extensive background in Child Development and Behavior Analysis that has proven very valuable when supporting families who are fostering or adopting through the foster care system. Pam has been recognized for her accomplishments and was named “Woman of the Year” by the National Association of Professional Women in 2014. A story that is chilling and painful to read -- but has a happy ending!At 14, Trent wrote the story of his life (with some input from his adoptive Mom) and turned it into a published book. It took a LOT of courage to reach into the dark places and wrestle this forth into the open. It's a 'prima facie' example of some of the potential within children who have been neglected and abused by their birth families, then abandoned and abused in a different way by the Foster Care system. He was fortunate enough to be adopted -- along with his younger brother -- into a family where they both have bloomed and thrived. All four lives have been incredibly enriched and expanded.This book should be read by people who care about children... Especially parents who have launched successful kids into the world, and find themselves 'empty-nesters' with extra space in their homes and hearts. And the energy to share life with an older child or teen through foster care or foster care adoption. Lives will be changed. Great job, Trent.

How openly Trent shares his story and the abuses he has triumphed over would inspire anyone and has certainly inspired myself and my kids. My kids, who are adopted from foster care and have similar backgrounds, have benefited immensely from hearing his story and have gained strength to begin sharing their open stories more openly. As a mom, Trent's story gives me insight into the hearts and minds of my kids that they are just not always able to give me themselves. Trent and his bravery are such a blessing to the world. I am privileged to have had the pleasure of hearing him share from his heart.

As a woman who also experienced some abuse as a child, I related in many ways with Trent's emotional journey; and in the areas in which I could not relate, I was brought in to a new understanding of what children in foster care go through, and the triumph of finding a forever family. The reason I am giving four stars is from a literary standpoint alone. The editing could have been better, but the story should be read by everyone. I read it in a day and then left it with my mom to read as well. Thank you for sharing your story!
