The book shares an inspiring story of a hard working and dedicated man who achieves his professional goals notwithstanding the challenges and obstacles he encounters along the way. He imagined something bigger and greater for himself even after losing his father when he was a a little boy and losing his closest brother (at age 15). Motivated to make something of himself and to take care of his family, he began his pursuit of knowledge and created a path for himself that would lead to a medical degree, a neurosurgery specialization at Vanderbilt University, and then a successful medical practice saving lives and alleviating the pain of thousands of patients over a period of almost 40 years. His story shows that hard work and dedication does make a difference and can lead to a productive life that gives back to the community. What comes through as his biggest accomplishment was being able to help people. A noble and respectable accomplishment that has lead to a lasting legacy in the area where he practiced. We are not all perfect. He acknowledges that he should have worked harder on his personal relationships and that is the first step to mending those relationships. As his daughter, I had heard many of the stories before, but it was wonderful to see them put together in the book.
