She warned me about one part, this child gets very ill in it and my best friend got sick when he was that age. It's not like normal Mafia stories I've read. One of the other reviews said it's strange. That's not even close. It's beyond strange. It puts you in the story. I don't think a person can explain it. You have to read it to understand. I haven't read a book in a long time that kept me awake. THIS DID! I love Mafia stories, but this isn't about a Mafia family. It's really a love story with all this other stuff going on and you react with the characters. You're with this couple for decades. You go from them falling in love to being old. And this guys battle with the bottle, is understandable and very real if you've ever been around an alcoholic/addict. From when they meet in the 70s until right up to now. You grow old with them. That's the part of it that's done much better than I've ever read. To be with a person and grow old with them in a manner that involves you. When they get married, you get married! When friends of theirs get sick, it's a friend of yours. When friends or realtives die or get murdered, it's your friends and family. You cry when these characters cry. I don't know how this author did it. One review said it was like watching a movie. In a way that's true, but I don't know how a movie could put you in a character's mind. And the parts that are really strange but real are when you're in the mind of a character when he is drunk or stoned!!! That is too real. My mom thought the language was a little harsh, but after awhile, even she said the launguage fits. It's really necesssary, because you believe the way these people talk is part of their personality. A+++++++ on this one!!!

Weird & strange & blew me away By A Customer I was just browsing things to read for real estate since I sold my house and people said I should go into real estate. Like "self help" books in real estate and I ran across this title. The title stuck in my mind. I wrote it down and kept on my search for "Help books" but kept coming back to that. A few days later I went ahead and ordered it. I've already read it twice in the first week and I keep going back and browsing through it. Unbelievable book. What a story. You are in the thinking of the main charatcter, Greg Crow. He's a rich guy by birth and just falls into money and stays drunk the whole time. About 20 years. I know people like that. I'm like that!!! At times I guess. The way this guy writes it for the reader to be in the characters mind is so weird but he pulls it off. I really can't describe it. I've been looking for other books buy this author and couldn't find one. I finally realized his website is on the book and his email address is in there.I emailed him just to see if he would mail back to me. In two days he did. I couldn't believe it. I've emailed celebreties and athletes and writers and I've never got an answer until now. Seems like a nice guy. I'd love to see if he's as weird as the book. His picture is on the book. He looks normal. He said he has another book that he expects to be published this summer. It's about an agent and a cop. Get this book. Even if you get it in the library, get it.I guess it's more of a mob story. He describes all the characters physical traits and minds so good that it's almost like seeing a movie. I know he's doing some book signings this summer. I can't wait to meet him and read his next book. I can't remember the name of it but he said in the email that it's better than As the Crow Falls. You're nuts if you don't read this. Most of it takes place in the 1970s. Scared the hell out of me.

A girl my wife works with told me about this book she was reading because she knows I love mob stories and they sell real estate so the idea of combining the mob and a real estate company was funny to us. I've seen the movies or read mob books, Godfather, Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, Untoucables, etc. This one is incredible. I read it in two sittings and my wife is about half way through it already. She's cried two times that I've seen and laughed a bunch. It's like that the whole way through. Nothing you expect to happen happens. I laughed and was sad at times to being scared out of my mind to being [angry] then back to laughing. The ending is awesome. I was so [angry] at the justice system and was relieved too. It messes with your emotions the whole time. You are actually in the mind of a character the whole way. It is so wicked. The author must be pretty [messed] up in the head but whatever the case it works. It is the coolest book, I've ever read.
