Dublin, Ireland: After two years living abroad, all-American girl, Jessica Dunhour, is packing up her apartment for the next big move. While sorting her shoes into boxes labelled: Keep, Throw away, Donate and Undecided, she reminisces on all the memories and lessons learned… through shoes. One of those lessons being that an 'Undecided' pile might as well be a 'Throw away' one – either you want it or you don’t and the same goes for relationships. The quicker you figure it out and get rid of what you don’t want, the more space you’ll have for the things, and people, you do. From her search for the ultimate pair of boots (i.e. ‘The One’) to her best friend, Lindsay, that lies to herself about how tight is too tight and to when online dating and online shoe shopping don’t live up to the pictures… Jessica learns the most important lesson of all.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not just 'another chick lit' book either; it stands head and shoulders above the crowd. The characters have depth, I really related to the story, and it provided some amazing armchair traveling too - which is about the only traveling I get to do these days! I have been reading prolifically since I was three years-old, and I can honestly say that of the thousands of books I've read, this is the only one that ever gave me goosebumps at the end. I found myself thinking about the novel for several days afterwards, and I am really hoping to see a sequel to this talented author's debut novel. It can't come fast enough as far as I'm concerned. Read it!

She pulls you into the world of the characters...they are dynamic, engaging and true to life. I found the setting of the story completely fascinating. It's so interesting to read about the Irish sayings and customs while also learning some about how Irish people view Americans. The story builds really well and I found myself completely invested in the characters. Tracy offers some very interesting insights. I love the parallels she builds between shoes and different relationships in our lives. I highly recommend this story and I can't wait to see what Tracy writes next.

Try being a girl in Dublin trying to find her footing. Exciting new job, great new friends and the perfect man? No that would be too easy for our protagonist!Leg-shaving faux-pas and soul-crushing heartbreak provide the tachycardian rhythm and blues of The Shoebox, but the rhyme and true value of the book is Jessica's self discovery through ... just being herself. There are moments in this book that are too true for words. Find them for yourself. I cannot recommend this book enough.
