I absolutely love submersing myself into the enchanting world K.K. Allen has created with this series. This book brings forth a ton of juicy information that may have been foreshadowed a bit in the prior books. It is also more action-packed and suspenseful. Don't be surprised if this book makes you shed a tear or two, but it may also make you melt with happiness and love.The characters have really grown on me, especially Katrina and Rose. I was happy to see that all of my favorite characters made an appearance in this book. Also, an intriguing new character is introduced.If you've read and loved the first two books in this series, then you must read this one! Somehow, each book gets better, and this one is my favorite of the three. If you haven't read this series yet, start it with The Summer Solstice: Enchanted.*Please note that I did receive an advanced reading copy of this book. However, it did not alter my opinion of it in any way.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Amazing series By Ashley Tomlinson Wow...just wow! This book was so amazing! I have a major book hangover now thanks to Allen but no regrets. Definitely my favorite book of the series and it is going to be so dang hard to write this review without blabbing every spoiler there is to give because oh my gosh so much happened.Kat is trying to live her life as normally as she can after Johnny left and her Dad returned. Erebus is doing everything in his power to get to her and her family and friends are trying to protect her, like she needs to be protected. She finds out some secrets that and sets a plan in motion to take on Erebus, alone. Will she be able to save everyone that she cares for before it's too late?Okay so I'm not going to lie, I think Johnny also broke my heart when he left at the end of the second book. I was also devastated so I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to read this book. Thankfully I made myself read it anyway with the hopes that Allen could mend both of our hearts. I love the romance in this book, it's not so much that it takes away from the story but it's not so little that I'm screaming at the book. It's a good balance of magic, romance and family bonding to make it an amazing book.Normally I hate when books tell stories through memories but it works in this book. It helped move the story along and answered a lot of questions. I loved the relationship that has grown between Kat and Rose, it was so sweet to witness. The bond that was formed between Kat and her dad was surprising but a nice surprise. Not sure I would have been as forgiving as Kat but that's a good thing.This book was a lot more action packed than the previous too and I loved it. It was also more suspenseful, not going to lie it had my heart beating fast a time or two. There was a plot twist thrown in there that I really did not see coming, bravo Allen for pulling one over on me.This is one of the best series' that I have ever read and seriously want everyone to read it. I highly recommend it to everyone that needs a little magic in their lives.

Allen's Summer Solstice trilogy concludes in "The Descendants", with more action, more suspense, and more romance! Katrina Summers journey of discovery and destiny has been building steadily since the first installment, "Enchanted", and fans of the series up to this point will not be disappointed as Kat embraces that destiny and an exciting future.If you are a fan of the series, you will be excited to see old friends return, including Kat's sassy grandmother Rose; her loyal companion/ caretaker Charlotte; and Kat's circle of friends and fellow Enchanters. Kat's past becomes very important in this book and the return of important people from that past makes for emotional turmoil and tension.Romance is, of course, a central point of the series, and this book doesn't disappoint. Kat's friend and sometime romantic interest Alec returns. After the events of book two, "The Equinox", Kat's broken heart is beginning to mend, her friendship with Alec a pivotal part of that. But life in Apollo Beach is never predictable and Kat's heart is thrown into turmoil again starting at the Winter Masquerade.SPOLIER ALERT:Yes, Johnny Pierce is back... Thank Poseiden!!!Over the three books, the romantic elements were written so well, so real, and never went t-h-e-r-e. Everything's clean and fresh, but at the same time intensely passionate. Even at my age (decidedly older than the "target audience"), I have to admit those moments spent with Kat and Johnny in books two and three left me a bit breathless. ;)The climatic moments are intense, heartbreaking, emotional, beautiful... It wraps up the story so well, bringing some characters together, tearing others apart, and leaving plenty of room for perhaps more stories? Please, K.K.??Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and the whole series. If you enjoy romance, action, a little teen angst, and a truly unique coming-of-age story, you have to read "The Descendants"... You will not be disappointed.
