Author Tony Leone was simply a boy growing up in South Brooklyn in the 1950s. He was the oldest of three children born to average, middle-class parents. Leone didn't harbor a childhood ambition to become a cop. No one in his family was a member of the police force, nor did anyone ever speak of or encourage him to enter the police department. In fact, he didn't even know any cops. Yet, Leone served twenty-three years as a member of the New York City Police Department. In Around the Clock . . . Leone offers insight into the daily rigors of the patrol function as it existed in the transitional decades of the 1960s through the end of the 1970s. Leone's memoir outlines the highs and lows, as well as the gratifying and disheartening moments associated with police work. About the Author Tony Leone was a member of the New York City Police Department for more than twenty-three years. Upon completion of his police service, he worked in the legal profession until his retirement in 2006. Leone and his wife of more than forty years have four children and five grandchildren.

The author recounts his experiences from applying for the police department, going through training and eventually working on patrol in NYC circa 1970s/80.The author’s experiences are recounted in diary-like style with special attention to detail. If you ever wondered what it was like on the job “back in the day,” this is a great book for you.

Mr Leone paints a rich and vivid description of every day life from the mundane to the sometimes thrilling radio calls he has responded to over a 13 yr period of his life. Great read!!
