About the Author Israel Cook the lead author and founder of Princess Planet started this journey a few years ago because of his daughter. He saw a large void in the princess characters she loved and the diversity that was available in the market place. From that point on he decided to be part of the solution and not to wait for other companies to invest in the next generation of princess lovers. Israel understands that so many cultures are underrepresented or misrepresented in children's entertainment. Israel and his team work hard to celebrate diversity without stereotyping culture and ethnicities. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A Perfect Way to Celebrate Every Young Girl! By Eshe I don't have girls but rather two boys. So, I don't live with princesses but I show images to my boys of the girls I want them to befriend and maybe one day spend their lives with. And I was a young girl once and opening these books reminded me of the beauty and sweetness of being a young girl. The princesses are beautiful and smart, they love nature, and dancing and science and I love that some are 8 and others are 18! It gives young girls a chance to think about who they are becoming and all that they can be and do in this world. The brown skinned girls shining and thriving in their native countries, speaking new languages and being glorious in their world is a wonderful way to celebrate little girls in all the ways that they are magically splendid. Thankful now that when I think of princess, I don't have to think of Disney anymore! And maybe when my boys interact with girls who call themselves princesses the connotation isn't all about frilly dresses and inflated self-worth, rather of a young woman who is empowered, empathetic, creative and free.

By Christina Nicole Smith Firstly, I purchased Volumes 1 AND 2 for my little cousins. They are three and five-years old. They love princesses and dolls. So when I found out about these books I thought they were great, not only for the special little ones in my life but ALL little girls for the following reasons:1. The princesses represented in each book come from all over the world.2. The princesses are not only beautiful, but SMART too!3. The young reader will also be introduced to words from different languages.4. There's a glossary!5. There are princesses of all different ages. The youngest is eight-years-old!
