The king persuaded Perseus to undertake a mission of bringing back to him the head of the monster Medusa, one of three Gogons who wore snakes instead of hair. The problem was that anyone who looked at a Gorgon would be turned to stone. Perseus undertook the mission, but had no idea how he could accomplish it.
