These juvenile crimes continued unabated and undisciplined and without punishment with no accountability, as they quickly transitioned to larger crimes as an adult resulting in subsequent incarceration and lengthy prison confinement. His journey, as John Bauer tells it, in crime and his prison experiences while impressive are also astonishing. His eventual rehabilitation and ultimate transformation are an incredible story that, amazingly, opened many doors of opportunity later in his life. Where is he now in his life's story after connecting all the dots below the line of his journey is a remarkable path worthy of respect as well as grateful humility. While I do not know the writers, I do know the subject of the book, John Bauer III. I have known him about 20 years. I knew much about his past, but I was not aware of every detail, even that was included in this book. I know his current wife Diane, and how they met in California. I am still coming to grips with what I feel as I read some of the many incidents that took place. I have known a few men who had difficult childhoods, mostly those from families that had little education and little financial success. Many sought shortcuts in life usually by running in the wrong circles, choosing the wrong friends and breaking the law. I am convinced that like minds find like minds, when you are going to the wrong part of town, the wrong bars or clubs, you will meet with the wrong crowd. Sometime, before one goes too far down the path of destruction, or crime, sometimes an incident happens, sometimes it must be divine, most likely divine, but something happens to change their path. Johnny came from a family that had economic means, perhaps not the right mix of love, I don't know. I can see some of his mistakes, as he explains them. My biggest difficulty is with those issues, those crimes where physical harm was caused to innocent victims, and it was not at all justified, and this violence, when it was unjustified, I detest and reject it, no matter who does it. While my purpose here to review the writing, not the man, I read a story where a man went down a wrong path, numerous times, where he was punished, where he found the right path, and where he later started on the wrong path again. His romances were intriguing, addictive as they many times are. Redemption for Johnny, did he seek it, did he get it, you will need to decide this on your own.

By Angus Penn A fast paced read delving into the froward childhood of John Bauer III,suffering from what a current court case has defined as "Afluenza". The author leads us along the intractable child's path to manhood; a life of willful contrariness, hedonism and ultimately to the darkness of a prison cell.While this biography, better known in current literary circles as confessional literature doesn't bear witness to Bauer's spiritual conversion , the reader is given a hint of such a probability from the author's Interludes. The Interludes are skillfully placed throughout Bauer's story as quiet,restful oases of introspection and hope.Despite the obvious inattention from the Editor, this novella touching on "man's struggle against man" does hold the reader's attention page after page to a propitious ending on a dance floor, the bright lights of Myrtle Beach and what this reader is left to presume is a "Southern Comfort" life for John Bauer III.

Better Than Fiction By Randy C.Woolard A good true story is one that is more compelling than fiction and reminds us of the consequences of bad decisions. What makes it even better is when we see a man transformed from bad to good in spite of the tremendous odds against his recovery. It's all here. An intelligent, affluent kid chooses a path of crime, eventually lands in federal prison and seeks to redeem himself when freedom rings again.The authors have provided an excellent description of the extraordinary history of John Bauer.(The Gray Wolf). The story also contains details that appear to be minor, but could have easily resulted in different major outcomes.The true story of "The Gray Wolf" would be spectacular on the silver screen. Hopefully, Hollywood is watching.
