About the Author Cameron Yow was engaged to Susan Morrison Cole for more than a decade, their marriage delayed by her illness. This memoir fulfills her request that he write their story. Cameron resurrected his writing career as he retired to provide full time home care for Susan. Kurt Vonngut, Jr. inspired Cameron to write, describing in a personal letter to Cameron his critique of his work as “...a work of art....” Cameron’s fiction has appeared in The Vestal Review and Maudlin House. His humor was selected as a semi-finalist by The Mark Twain House and Museum.

By Amazon Customer This is a well told story of a woman who lived to love, who died of a broken heart.It describes in detail errors made by doctors that needlessly delayed her diagnosis by three years as well as other errors that, rather than aid her recovery, actually resulted in her suffering longer and more than she should have.The author explains he wrote the memoir to honor her, to fulfill her request that he tell their story. But he does more than that. He shares numerous, specific examples of those errors that contributed to his fiancee's suffering. By doing so, he alerts everyone who reads this of our need to be vigilant that the doctors we trust do observe their Hippocratic Oath, to do no harm.And, in spite of all her suffering, he tells the story of a woman whose infinite capacity to love brought joy to all who were fortunate to know her.

The emotions are uncensored and raw. The passion in flight is matched, unfortunately, by the depth of grief when mortality intrudes. The question of whether an efficient health care system could have prevented the death of the heroine haunts the writer and will haunt the reader as well.
