About the Author Chic Scott is a household name in international and Canadian mountaineering circles. One of Canada's most celebrated mountain literature authors and adventurers, he is the author of several award-winning mountaineering history books, including "Pushing the Limits: The Story of Canadian Mountaineering" (RMB 2000) and "Powder Pioneers: Ski Stories from the Canadian Rockies and Columbia Mountains" (RMB 2005). A quenessential read for anyone interested in the history of Canada's premier Mtn Guide and father of heli skiing By alexander sharif This is a must read for anyone living on the Eastern slopes who travels to the mountains and engages in mountain activity. Chis gives an insight in to the making of Canada's chief Mtn guide, Hans Gmoser. He also writes lots about his best friend and business partner Leo Grillmair who is still alive and kicking hard. Other legends are also mentioned. I started it on a rainy weekend and could not put it down. On a side note, Chic is in the process of digitizing Hans's 10 movies with archives borrowed from the Wyatt museum in Banff. They will be treasures of the Rockies when they are available.
